Who should I notify when someone dies?

Notify immediate family and close friends, the person’s employer, the Social Security Administration, banks and financial institutions, life insurance providers, the USPS for mail forwarding, and utility and subscription providers.

What is the difference between a funeral and a memorial service?

A funeral includes the body of the person who died and usually happens within a week of death. A memorial service does not include the body and can be held weeks or months later. A celebration of life is a type of memorial service.

How does cremation work?

Cremation places the body in a cremation chamber and uses high heat to reduce it to ashes, typically over two to three hours. A unique identifier stays with the individual throughout the process, and the remains are returned to the family in an urn or keepsake.

How can I pay for funeral or cemetery services?

You can pay in full or spread costs over time. We accept credit cards and checks, and offer payment plans and pre-need arrangements. Pre-planning locks in today’s pricing and provides peace of mind.

What is the purpose of a funeral service?

A funeral honors your loved one’s life, gives family and friends a chance to grieve together, and supports healing by marking the loss and celebrating the person’s journey and impact.

Should I plan ahead?

Pre-planning records your wishes so your family doesn’t have to guess, locks in today’s pricing, and lets you make decisions calmly rather than under pressure. A local counselor can help at no charge.
